'La Casucha' is a traditional small cottage that is absolutely charming and is in a great location - tucked away in a quiet corner at the southern edge of the village overlooking the countryside. From the roof terrace, there are lovely views to the south west, and towards the iconic ‘El Hacho’ mountain to the west which dominates the skyline and is backdrop to some amazing sunsets!
The cottage is brimming with Andalusian character and quirky features and is well presented, having been tastefully refurbished over recent years. More recently, the addition of central heating & high-quality double glazed hardwood windows, provides comfortable, cosy & welcoming living accommodation that can be used year round. This is an ideal ‘lock-up-and-leave’ holiday or rental cottage.
The property is a few minutes’ walk (uphill!) from village amenities, including a variety of shops, selection of tapas bars and several high-quality restaurants. There is also on-street parking nearby, which is a real bonus in Gaucín!
Ground floor:
At the entrance to the cottage is a quaint little patio garden (with room for a small table), full of fragrant flowering shrubs & plants, including a Nispero tree, jasmine, oleander and a grapevine. The entrance door opens directly into the charming & comfortable open plan living space with a wood-burning stove, original terracotta tiled floor & oak-beamed ceiling. A Moorish archway leads into the pretty kitchen with colourful Andalusian wall tiles, and a useful storage area used as a pantry.
First floor:
From the kitchen, an ancient stone staircase leads up to the Master bedroom, with built-in wardrobe space & terracotta floor tiles. This is a delightful, light & airy room with French doors opening to a balcony across the front of the cottage overlooking the patio. From here, there is a beautiful view of El Hacho mountain to the west (and the wonderful sunsets!). The adjacent shower room is well presented, bright & cheery with pretty Andalusian blue tiling and a walk-in shower.
Upper floor:
This level of the cottage is light & airy and comprises a small open plan room with a quirky little balcony overlooking the staircase. It is currently used as an artist’s studio with a sofa bed, but there is space for a double guest bed if required. A large double glazed window overlooks the roof terrace and has views to the west.
From the adjacent spacious & sunny terrace, there are far-reaching views of the countryside to the south west and, closer to home, there is a wonderful view of ‘El Hacho’ mountain, backdrop to some gorgeous sunsets. This terrace offers a delightful spot for alfresco dining and relaxing, and there is also a free-standing shower for cooling off!
